Welcome to the Mile High Denver Chapter of ARMA!

The Mile High Denver Chapter was established in 1970 and is dedicated to serving the ARMA members of the Denver Metro and surrounding areas. Click here to learn more about us.

President's welcome letter

Hi my fellow Mile-High Denver Chapter of ARMA Members,

I hope you are enjoying your summer and I cannot wait to see you in September for our first educational meeting of the Chapter year.  My name is Ed Sturgeon and I am your 2018-2019 President for the Mile-High Denver Chapter of ARMA.  I have worked for Metro Wastewater Reclamation District for 23 years and have been the Records Management Administrator for 7½ years.  This summer I have been busy camping, riding motorcycle, being a husband to my wife, Becky, and a dad to my 7-year-old son, Zander.

As our new Chapter year kicked off on July 1st, your Chapter Board has already been busy working and planning a fantastic year of education, networking, and fun.  We have a few new members joining our Board this year.  Kim Wendelin, University of Colorado, is taking on the role of Vice President; Kelsey Lane, Total Documents Solutions, is stepping into the role of Treasurer; and Elesha Johnson, City of Boulder, is tackling the role of Web Director.  I would also like to welcome back Carol Ann Hartnagle, Total Document Solutions, as the Board’s Educational Director.  Continuing on the Board is Kay Harrington, Baker & Hostetler LLP, as Chairperson; Guy Mason, City and County of Denver, as President-Elect; Rebekah Glover, Holland & Hart, as Communications Director; Elle Schalow, White Bear Ankele Tanaka & Waldron PC, as Secretary; Ben Gunzenhauser, Bayswater E&P, as Membership Director; Joanna Lamb, SM Energy, as Programs Director; and Sande Stewart, South Adams Country Water & Sanitation District, as Member-at-Large.

We are also very fortunate to have four local members represented at the Region and International levels.  Kathy Nielsen, Kinder Morgan, is our Chapter Advisor on Education and Programming; RJ Mauro, SM Energy, is our Chapter Advisor on Membership & Marketing; Paula Sutton, Records Matter LLC, from the Northern Colorado Chapter, is our Chapter Advisor on Operations; along with Dynessa Nordrum, Hormel Foods Corporate Services, from the Twin Cities Chapter as our Region Director.  Not to forget to mention our own Bill Bradford, Jagged Peak Energy, is stepping into the role of President-Elect for ARMA International.

Our “theme” for this Chapter year is From Records and Information Management to Information Governance and Beyond, or more simply put, From RIM to IG and Beyond.  We will have a range of educational meetings that meet the needs of all our members from entry level practitioners to the more advanced or seasoned members.  We will sneak in some fun activities, such as workshops, tours, and networking events as well, and maybe even a motivational presentation to help strengthen our souls.  I have no doubt that our Spring Seminar on Tuesday, April 16th, 2019 will be one of the best.  We have a very special guest that may be attending.  More details to come on that later.

Our first educational meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 18th, 2018.  We will be returning to the Denver PPA Event Center located at 2105 Decatur Street Denver, CO  80211.  The Denver PPA Event Center offers free parking, free Wi-Fi, great staff, big open meeting rooms, and fabulous meals.  Want to save money on our educational meetings?  Please check out our Pre-Pay options.  We have similar offerings as last year – with or without the Spring Seminar included.

Please continue to look for updated information on our website as we will be adding items of interest frequently.  I would also like to have some workshops before our regular educational meetings on how to use and navigate your way through our new website.

We will have a Chapter Charity again this year.  More information to come on the selection of a Charity in the near future.  I believe that giving back to our community is important. The Chapter has raised a lot of money over the years for many different organizations.

Please do not hesitate to contact myself or any one of our Board Members if you have any questions or need assistance with anything.

I look forward to a fantastic year with my fellow ARMA members!!

Ed Sturgeon, CRM
