Implementing IG
More and more organizations are adopting Information Governance as a way to address information risks and opportunities.  But how does an organization go from a siloed approach to managing information, to the integrated approach that is IG?
To implement IG, organizations need to understand the differences and connections between a RIM Program and an IG Program. This session will identify the duties, tasks and steps to implement an IG Program and detail the role of an IG professional, including and the skills, abilities and attributes to be successful.  We will also evaluate tools and resources for implementation and on going success for the IG Program.

Jason C. Stearns, Director, is a member of the Legal and Compliance Group at BlackRock. He is responsible for the global implementation of Information Governance standards and requirements and is the Americas Privacy Lead.
Prior to BlackRock, Mr. Stearns worked at UBS as Director and Portfolio Manager, Group Information Governance where he was responsible for Information Governance strategy development, project management, and oversight. Prior to that, he was the Corporate Records Manager for New York Life Insurance Company.
Mr. Stearns earned an MS in Applied Information Management from the University of Oregon and BA from Binghamton University. He is also a certified Information Governance Professional (ARMA International), Certified Information Privacy Professional – US (IAPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (IAPP) and a Certified Records Manager (ICRM).
Mr. Stearns serves as President-Elect on the ARMA International Board and previously served as chair of the IGP board of directors.
